Vancouver man waxes chest hair into moustache for Movember

Talk about giving 110%.

Vancouver resident Douglas Drinkwater waxed his chest hair into a moustache for Movember, raising money and awareness for men’s health issues.

This year marks Drinkwater’s fourth such stunt, initially conceived as a way of setting himself apart from other fundraisers, and honouring his own father’s winning fight against prostate cancer.

“You know, my father’s my best friend,” Drinkwater told Vancity Buzz.

The first year he took part in Movember, Drinkwater didn’t get waxed, and started looking looking for a way to set himself apart from the pack.

“I work on tugboats for a job, and we were sitting around the table one night and one of the guys said ‘you’re a hairy pr***, why don’t you get waxed and do a moustache?'” says Drinkwater. “It just kind of went from there.”

While raising money for a good cause is one thing, the waxing was another entirely.

“We had to edit out most of the terminology used in the video, if that means anything,” says Drinkwater, laughing. “But my old man, with him going through prostate cancer, he went through a lot more pain than the waxing.”

“I definitely gained a lot more appreciation for the women in the world, because it’s not a good feeling at all.”
