Police on Vancouver Island are investigating both the suspects and the victim of a robbery that took place outside of Victoria.

The West Shore RCMP said that on Tuesday, an 18-year-old male reported being bear-sprayed and robbed near a recreation centre.

Upon answering the call, police discovered that the victim was actually a suspected drug dealer.

According to a police statement, he was allegedly selling Xanax pills at the time and “described being jumped by two male suspects.” The suspects stole the pills and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police managed to find the suspects shortly after; they reportedly used the stolen money to purchase alcohol.

Two males, a 15-year-old and a 19-year-old, were identified and arrested.

RCMP seized the Xanax pills, liquor, and bear spray from them, and say that all parties are being investigated.
