One of the city’s largest annual food and wine events, the Vancouver International Wine Festival, returns for its 38th year.

Spanning over a week, from February 20 to 28, the wine-focused affair will once again bring together the top names in wine making, as well as a collection of wines from round the world.

The large-scale event has become internationally recognized over the past few years, and attracts a gathering of wine novices, connoisseurs, trade folks, and wine makers, from near and far.

This year the festival, which will raise funds for the Bard on the Beach Theatre Society, will showcase 156 wineries from 14 countries, including 60 wineries from Italy–this year’s theme country, and expects to pour over 1,450 wines at 55 events.

Festivalgoers can expect to sip, sample, and schmooze at a chock-a-block program of events, that will include educational seminars, winery dinners, tastings, and food and wine pairings.
