Vancouver International Burlesque Festival - Photo Release

The 8th Annual Vancouver International Burlesque Festival has come to a close. With hundreds of hours and hard work from the festivals’ board of directors, performers, photographers and talented technicians, VIBF delivered one of Vancouver’s most diverse and seductive shows of 2013. Here are some of the beautiful stage moments that inspired and captivated theatre-goers.

The talented Melody Mangler, a creative genius, has been entertaining Vancouver burlesque fans since 2004. As a co-founder of the Vancouver Int’l Burlesque Festival and artistic director of the Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society – Melody Mangler is one busy burlesque maven!


Tranny Zukko Dirty Vanities – created in 2013 by Tranny Zukko (member of the Screaming Chickens Theatrical Society) showcased at the Vogue Theatre, featuring 13 dancers alongside the captive Zukko had the crowd cheering the cave women on as they danced and performed to the choreography of Zukko. Loved this performance, great styling.


Lydia DeCarllo performed at the Vogue Theatre May 3, 2013. Her performance was beautifully executed. Her costume was stunning on stage. She brought you back to the age of movie stars with glamour and huge stage presence. Lydia has performed at burlesque festivals all over the world and had the audience cheering at the Vogue!


The ultimate entertainer, dancer and performance artist Russell Bruner, also known as the King of Burlesque, dazzled the audience on May 3, 2013 at the Vogue Theatre.  Russell was also the lucky man to be “pulled” onto the stage with world famous burlesque artists Catherine D’Lish.


August Wiled delivered a chilling performance, May 4, 2013 at the Vogue Theatre. This was August’s first time on the famous Vancouver stage. Catch her perform in Vancouver at Kitty Nights at the Biltmore Cabaret or Pandora and the Locksmiths at Guilt & Co. Photographer: Cameron Brown


Burgundy Brixx brought the house down with her SUN performance at the Vogue Theatre, May 4, 2013. Burgundy will be off to Las Vegas to compete for the Queen of Burlesque at this years’ Burlesque Hall of Fame. Burgundy and the Purrrfessor host Kitty Nights Sundays at the Biltmore, arrive by 8:30 p.m. show starts at 9 p.m. Photographer: Cameron Brown


Voracious V won over the audience at the Vogue Theatre May 4, 2013. Her innovative performance and costume pleased the crowd as they stood wanting more of this vixen’s fantastic performance. All the way from Nelson B.C., Vancouver welcomed Terrantino who gave a saucy boylesque performance giving the ladies something to whistle and hollar about. Terrantino, who performs as a dancer and singer also has a background in TV and film.  Terrantino performed at the Vogue Theatre on May 4, 2013 adding a nice mix of boylesque to the line up. CICI FANTAS TIQUE performed May 2, 2013 at the Rio Theatre on the productions night with the Rock and Roll Burlesque. Ravishingly beautiful, with hair for days that she used like a old pro. Her performance was sexy and alluring. Her stage presence was demanding and the crowd loved it! Cannot wait to see more from this sassy performer. Photographer: Jess Desaulniers-Lea


The lovely and talented Nicky Ninedoors delivered a stellar performance at the Vogue Theatre on May 3, 2013, alongside her husband John Ninedoors. Both Nicky and John are founding members of the collective group Pandora and the Locksmiths. Nicky sang live opera while John played the Bass. They performed The Habanera from Bizet’s “Carmen” – romantic and enchanting. The 8th Annual Vancouver International Burlesque Festival proved to be a huge success this year  with the support of the board of directors of the VIBFA.  Elected president Blue Morris. vice-president Stevie Lix, secretary Sparkle Plenty, treasurer Vanity Feral, member-at-large April O’Peel , member-at-large Michael Cooper and member-at-large Nicky Ninedoors.
