By DH Vancouver Staff, DH Vancouver Staff May 03, 2012 2:02 pm

Tonight is the opening of the the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival. Ove the past seven years the festival has experienced great growth and is starting to attract more international performers and getting into some of Vancouver’s most prestigious venues. This year the festival will hit the stage at The Vogue and the Rio Theatre with dance, music and g-strings.

The 2012 festival will feature Miss Exotic World’s current Reigning Queen of Burlesque, Miss Indigo Blue. For 15 years this “neo-burlesquer” has titillated the world with her wild tassel-twirling techniques, hilarious surprises, and her naughty Wonder Woman act.

Boylesque is also included in the festival this year. ”You might not know it, but boys do burlesque too!” says Sparkle Plenty, a festival board member. “We’re flying in one of the best boylesque acts in the world, Jett Adore.” Known internationally as “The No-Pantser Romancer” from Chicago, Jett’s artistic, sexy, and elaborate performances are male striptease at its finest.

Furthermore, the festival brings a variety of acts from hula-hoopers and musicians to comedians. They all come together into three nights of the sexiest, funniest, entertaining weekend of the year.

It all takes place May 3-6 at the Rio and the Vogue, with a sexy pyjama party for festival members only on the Sunday night.
