Before the rumours of the new Batman movie possibly filming in Vancouver started to circulate our city once played Gotham City! Okay not really. However, in the original 1989 Tim Burton classic they used a map of Vancouver to represent Gotham.
As you can see Vicki Vale’s hand (played by Kim Basinger’s hand) is pointing around the SFU area. If you look at the map you can easily identify the downtown peninsula and realize this is a map of Vancouver. Also look at Richmond and the farmland to the east, another dead giveaway. Not sure why they couldn’t just use a map of New York City, as that is what the fictional city of Gotham is based on. Thought this a cool little piece of trivia.
