Put away your sweaters and jackets, this week’s outdoor necessities are sunglasses, sunscreen, t-shirts and shorts as beach season has arrived early.

Vancouver’s weather throughout the final days of April and early days of May will feel more like summer than spring as temperatures rise into the 20s.

According to Environment Canada, Vancouver residents can expect a week-long of sunshine and warm weather. Thermometers will begin to spike on Tuesday, with temperatures peaking at 21°C this Thursday and Friday. The summer-like conditions will continue throughout the weekend and into early next week.

In the Fraser Valley, temperatures will reach as high as 26°C by Thursday. In the mountains, warm temperatures in Whistler could put an early damper on the resort’s springtime alpine skiing conditions.
