Major film producer joins growing Vancouver studio behind 'Backrooms'
Oddfellows, a film studio in Vancouver that has been attached to major motion pictures like Backrooms, just got a big boost with a new member of the team joining as co-president.
Brian Kavanaugh-Jones has joined as partner alongside producer Chris Ferguson.
The pair have collaborated on projects like The Monkey, the much-talked-about Nicolas Cage flick Longlegs, and the upcoming The Young People, from filmmaker Osgood Perkins.
“Since founding Oddfellows, Brian has been my closest producing partner. He brings phenomenal taste and talent relationships alongside a wide-ranging entrepreneurial vision that is going to be vital to plotting out an ambitious course in this new chapter for the company,” Ferguson said in a statement.
“Beyond all that, we’ve had nothing but fun producing movies all over the world together for the last 15 years, and I look forward to doing it for 15 more.”
This news comes after last month’s reveal of Oddfellows signing a “first-look deal” with Warner Bros. Pictures Group.
“Chris Ferguson and the team at Oddfellows have built a filmmaker-first creative engine with a proven ability to discover, support and elevate original talent, and this partnership gives us an exciting new way to bring distinctive, smartly produced films to audiences across the theatrical landscape,” said Warner Bros. Pictures Group’s Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy.
Ferguson was a producer for the hit horror flick Backrooms, which became A24’s highest-grossing film.

Oddfellows was founded by Ferguson back in 2012 as an independent production company.
