Dec 19 2017, 10:56 pm

Vancouver’s creative professionals are shaking up the fashion industry lately, proving that our city is brimming with clever minds. From fashion bloggers and photographers to designers and stylists, these 25 Instagrammers prove they have style in spades that can’t be minimized by any filter and that inspiration is only a cell phone snap away. They’ve been getting our digits double-tapping and soon yours will be too.

@IAMJOHNYOO

John Yoo is a Vancouver-based photographer with an affinity for edgy and cool vibes. While you can often find him capturing weddings, we are admittedly having a love affair with his clever editorials and behind the scenes shots at Vancouver fashion events.

@BEYUNIQUE

Social Media Specialist, Lucy Yun knows her shtick when it comes to styling up an Instagram feed. And given that one of her specialties is in fact styling, there’s no shortage of that to peruse – including a ‘(Not) My Boyfriend’s’ tee that we need to get our hands on – pronto!

@MICHELLEWHYU

Michelle Yu is the fashion illustrator behind, When I’m An Old Man and fashion writer for various Canadian publications. Her Instagram feed is a free-flowing stream of inspiration, scattered with her artwork, the perfect amount of punchiness and some bumpin beats every now and then.

@TOBRUCKAVE

A true wanderlust at heart, Kiara Schwartz of Tobruck Ave. is constantly on the move but currently calls Vancouver her stomping (or should we say play) ground. The edgy boho babe gives us a peek into her whimsical outdoor adventures, capturing one free-spirited outfit at a time. Her feed is currently inspired by her new festival-friendly clothing line, Dream Catcher The Label. This is only the beginning where we’ll see more and more local fashion bloggers teaming up with brands on clothing lines and capsule collections.

@VIRANLLY

This Indochino chap doesn’t just have an eye for men’s suiting, he also has an affinity for charming and intimate photoscapes. His feed is adventure, coffee and men’s fashion all bundled up into one Instagram feast for the eyes.

@XANDERVINTAGE

Not one to take herself too seriously, Xander Vintage expresses her individuality through playful and quirky outfits. For those of you who don’t know this Filipino, Croatian, Norwegian blogger babe, you will now readily recognize her by her ever-changing hair colour (so far it’s tasted every colour of the rainbow).

@XANDER.PHOTOGRAPHY

Everyone knows Alanna of Xander Vintage is one force to be reckoned with but her other half is that talented photographer behind the lens. Lucky for us he recently joined the Instagram clan with his own account, sharing tons of BTS shots of the fam jam – him, Alanna and their adorable son, Noah – in action.

@DIGIDARLINGS

Bria of Digi Darlings is running the show when it comes to teaching local fashionistas the Photoshop ropes. Thanks to her, everyone else’s Insta feeds are looking pretty stellar too, proving that filters don’t always need to be used (and perhaps shouldn’t). We love to follow her feed for daily bits and bobs of fashion-friendly inspiration and motivation.

@ALBJOURNAL

Carlle of A Leather Bound Journal has been knocking our socks off ever since we spotted her street style last year. We said she was ‘one to watch’ then and we still mean it now. The local stylist and blogger is fresh with a modern twist on edgy and offers the perfect dose of cool for our Insta break at work.

@HEYJUDESHOP

When Lyndsey Chow and Lauren Clark first discovered the flash retail trend of pop up shops, it lay the groundwork to launch their fashion forward vintage concept, Hey Jude. They’ve since been pulling us into their pop up shop one spring Instagram snap at a time, proving that the visual social channel really can be a tool to get in front of local customers.

@TOVOGUEORBUST

Being stylish is a lifestyle and no one proves that more than Alex of To Vogue or Bust. From beautiful cityscapes and market runs to health tidbits and relatable but killer outfits, Alex makes a serious lifestyle out of the elevated everyday and shows us what it’s all about on her Instagram feed.

@DESIGNLOVECO

Catering to the entrepreneurial, creative and often fashionably-inclined woman, Marissa of Design Love Co knows what women love best…and that’s perfectly curated Instagram flat lays. Her feed is just about as beautiful and inspirational as her day planners are. Can we get a #MondayMotivation?

@THEAUGUSTDIARIES

Jill Lansky is one of the chicest Instagrammer’s on the block. Her impeccable fashion sense and styling tips (hint: find yourself a good tailor) make her one of the most admired personal style bloggers in the city…and her #OOTD chronicles win a spot on our Instagram best-dressed list any day.

@THEOPTICALBOUTIQUE

No one knows their fashionistas better than The Optical Boutique. That’s because they’ve been framing the city’s most stylish in luxury eyewear since 1979. The fierce owner of The Optical Boutique, Sue Randhawa has proven through her own style that frames truly are the best fashion accessory. You will now find them scattered across the front rows and down the runways of our city’s fashion weeks.

@RANDASALLOUM

The designer behind I See Noise Prints, Randa Salloum knows her white space…and let’s just say, she’s definitely setting a precedent with those flat lays. Balancing out larger items with extremely small ones, proportions and harmony are everything here. We love following her for daily musings and other bits, bites and bytes, as she likes to call them.

@THECOLLECTIVEYOU

The Collective You constantly stuns us with their artful and timeless take on black and white event portraiture. “There’s an honesty, elegance and creativity to our service,” says portrait photographer, Dennis Grocer. But contrary to cheesy event photo booths, they capture the beauty and personality of each guest, making them feel celebrated (and pretty sexy too, we should add).

@JESSICALUXE

Jessica Luxe has been monopolizing our Instagram feeds (and hearts) for the past two years with her unapologetically daring and bold take on personal style and life. Like she says, “Life is too short for boring clothes.” You can either find her snapping #OOTD’s for her blog or running the social media game for newly launched local luxury retailer, Wardrobe Apparel.

@ALEXASUTER

Wordsmith, social media consultant, blogger, photographer and clothing designer, Alexa Suter does it all. And really well too. A big wanderlust at heart, she takes us with her on her travels abroad and continues to capture seriously romantic vibes in lead up to the launch of her new passion project and line of skirts, Sutie Skirts.

@CARAJOURDAN

If a fresh feed of pretty is what you’re after, Cara McLeay of a Fashion Love Affair has you covered head to toe (literally). From the everyday to upscale, her #OOTD-styled snaps and travel musings are nothing short of an Instagram-dream-come-true. Also the creator behind the XO Styling Iron, the proof is in her own beachy waves that this wand can do magic for your locks.

@MEETKIT

Have you been crushing on Kit and Ace, the newly launched luxury store in Vancouver? Meet Kit will give you a peek inside the lives of women who really personify the brand – think creative souls that are up to big things. After all, what Vancouverite doesn’t want to slather themselves in technical cashmere? Now, we just can’t wait to meet that elusive Ace…

@ANDREWMILLIGAN

While Andrew can often be found shooting fashion editorials, he takes us on a next level journey through his Instagram feed, chronicling his travels, style and even car muses. If a departure from the everyday flat lay is what you’re after,  you might just find yourself double-tappin on his feed for days.

@LILYANNENGUYEN

Blogger and recent founder of Shop Bleed For Fashion, Lily’s unapologetic approach to fashion and life make her one of our favourites to follow. Lucky for us, she translates her wittiness and daily musings into little squares that have the perfect balance of inspiration.

@WHENTHEYFINDUS

A discerning guide to creative Vancouver, When They Find Us takes us through their intimate repository of shops, dining and coffee finds, helping us discover more of the hidden gems scattered across our city.

@VANCOUVERSTYLE

Top cosmetic tattoo artist, Shaughnessy Keely and master hair colourist, Chris Weber come together to form the local duo, Vancouver Style. While the two are notoriously spotted at Vancouver fashion events, they’ve also left their creative footprint on Vancouver by organizing style collaborations and supporting emerging artists and designers locally.

@STYLINGMYLIFE

Whether traveling through Italy or exploring her own stomping ground in Vancouver, Alison of Styling My Life is chronicling her own life down to a science. Constantly enraptured by the beauty that surrounds her, she has an affinity for capturing the beautiful little moments.
