
We’re now technically in meteorological fall, and the autumn equinox is on Sept. 22; it’s no surprise, then, that the Vancouver weather forecast suggests single-digit, fall-like temperatures could be headed our way.
We’ll see some classic Vancouver weather this weekend, with a chance of showers in the forecast, but daytime temperatures will hover around highs of 19°C, with overnight lows of 13°C.
However, according to the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) forecast, when Monday hits, temperatures are going to begin to drop, potentially down to single digits.
Despite the chance of showers this weekend, we could be in for a pretty nice Saturday and Sunday, at least during the day. ECCC says it could get a little gusty, with wind gust speeds of up to 50 km/h expected this weekend.
On Monday, the ECCC forecast suggests the sunshine will take a break.

Monday is also when a potential overnight cooling trend will begin, with overnight lows dropping to 9°C.
Vancouver could be in for a warm fall and winter
If you’re worried about things getting too chilly, some of our previous reporting on the upcoming Super El Niño might deflate those concerns, but the warmer weather isn’t necessarily a good thing.
It follows a similar pattern we’ve been seeing the last few years, which has led to warmer-than-usual fall temperatures, including breaking warm weather records in October, especially in 2022, when parts of B.C. broke records that were in place for 100 years.
We’re also likely going to see a much warmer and much less traditional winter this year.
OpenSnow, a U.S. based company that specializes in weather forecasts, snow reports, high-resolution weather maps, and ski conditions, recently published an early outlook for the season.
Due to El Niño, OpenSnow said that B.C. is favoured to have below-average snowfall across much of the province, because of warm temperatures and a “more southerly storm track.”
So it’s not looking good for a white Christmas.
We’re likely to see more of these weather patterns as a result of rising global temperatures due to human-caused climate change, as well as an increased likelihood of rockfalls and landslides in the coming years.
