#WhatWorks: Mental Toughness with Sean Bacon and Reception & Publication Launch

What: BC Tech Association presents a morning talk by Sean Bacon on mental toughness as part of their #WhatWorks: Women in Tech series. Sean is a Canadian Armed Forces veteran and founder of Dynamic Shift Consulting Inc. Then in the evening, attend the #WhatWorks Reception & Publication Launch, with speakers, networking and more. Attendance to the evening event is by donation to support Actua, facilitated by Charitable Impact.

Chantal Kreviazuk

What: JUNO Award-winning singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk (“Surrounded,” “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” “Before You”) brings her Christmas Is a Way of Life Tour to Clarke Foundation Theatre in Mission on December 4, and Centennial Theatre in North Vancouver on December 5.

Christmas Glow Vancouver

What: Christmas Glow will take place inside the Harbour Convention Centre until January 5, 2020. Visitors will be able to enjoy nearly 50,000 sq. ft. of enchanting twinkling lights and holiday activities.

This year’s theme for Vancouver is “Santa’s Lost Presents.” Guests will be able to help the elves find Santa’s lost presents. Themed light-up structures, including Santa’s sleigh and his trusty reindeer, will be set up around the venue. Adults will be able to enjoy the licensed bars, seasonal beverages, and live music while interactive activities and festive playgrounds will keep the kids busy.

Nutcracker Afternoon Tea

What: Held in the Notch8 Restaurant & Bar’s Private Dining Room, this Nutcracker themed tea service features holiday décor and vintage storybooks, and food will be served on a decorative Christmas tree tier.

Food featured in this tea includes Porcini Mushroom Hot Cocoa topped with bitter chocolate marshmallow, Ginger Mont Blanc Babka, and Fruitcake Scone served with clotted cream, marmalade and black cassis curd, and a “Sugar Plum Fairy” with candy cane stripe beetroot, goat cheese, and pine dust, to name a few.

What: Throughout December, the Vancouver Trolley Company is running its Karaoke Christmas Lights tour, showcasing the city in a unique way. Stops include Bright Nights at Stanley Park, local light displays such as the English Bay Christmas Tree, Hycroft Manor and Canuck Place, VanDusen Botanical Garden’s Festival of Lights, and a viewing of St. Paul’s Hospital Lights of Hope.
