VIFF Live! RZA: Live From The 36th Chamber of Shaolin and Creator Talk with RZA

  • What: Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA will be performing a live-score of Lai Kar-Leung’s Kung-fu classic The 36th Chamber of Shaolin at the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) this year. Before the show, RZA will also participate in the VIFF Creator Talk Series to discuss his admiration of martial arts movies, his creative process, and his experiences as a director and film composer.

Spooktober – Dare to Laugh

  • What: Spooktober is Vancouver TheatreSports’ limited-run seasonal celebration of all things eerie. There are four different shows you’ll be dying to see. Monster Matches pits teams of monsters against one another in a series of ‘head-to-headless’ short-form scenarios to see who ‘eeeks’ the most laughs. Cult Fiction – Everyone Laugh Together is framed as a spooky documentary. Scared Witless – Creepy Campfire Tales sees a group of hikers trapped by a storm in a spooky forest. WTF – What the Fright takes its format from their regular late night show, What the Fun!

Meet the Masters – Dalí and Piccaso at the Oakridge Centre

  • What: Oakridge Centre is collaborating with Chali-Rosso Gallery once again to host the “Meet the Masters” art exhibition. The exhibition is open during centre hours and will include the unveiling of the 98″ bronze Dali sculpture called the “Surrealist Piano”. This year also features Picasso pieces as well.

Baby-Sitter

  • What: Inspired by current events, Baby-Sitter is a dark comedy that cuts to the heart of feminism and all the confusion that surrounds it. While echoing the concerns of the #MeToo movement, the play also shakes up male-female relationships, asking what are the limits of freedom of expression?
