HELLO

What: In the 1960s, celebrated American playwright Arthur Miller had a son, Daniel, who was diagnosed with Down syndrome. The family never publicly acknowledged Daniel’s existence. HELLO: a secret historical exclusion! follows the story of Daniel, who grew up in an isolated institution, never attended his sister’s birthday parties, never learned to read and was never a part of his birth families international portrait. How would Daniel see his mother, his sister, his father and his place in the world? HELLO is seen through Daniels eyes. Presented by Theatre Terrific.

From Bach to Beatles

What: World renown Israeli violin magician Sanya Kroitor and his band will present From Bach to Beatles concert, a unique blend of classical and modern music, with infusion of klezmer, jazz, and folk tunes.

Clothing swaps at Lupii Cafe

What: A community swap is being held in South Vancouver, where participants are encouraged to bring quality, gently worn items to give away. All ages, eras, sizes and styles of clothes will be accepted, as long as they are clean, in good condition and likely to be valued by others. You need to bring at least five items to participate. That includes women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, costumes, shoes, accessories and jewelry. They are also accepting craft supplies, linens, kid’s toys, adult and children’s books, as well as small houseware items.

Sound Bites: Blackthorn

What: A Little Lunch Music has changed to a new format with a new name: Sound Bites! This concert series features local musicians in all genres of music including folk, classical, jazz and pop. Enjoy a different musical performance each month, along with coffee and dessert.

Dunkirk Special Screening at Science World

What: In honour of the 1940 Dunkirk evacuation that occurred between May 26 and June 4, Science World is showing Christopher Nolan’s epic action thriller Dunkirk, directed from his own original screenplay.

Avian by Nature: Wild Birds of Vancouver’s North Shore

What: Join local wildlife photographer Robert Alexander for an illustrated lecture on the wild birds of the North Shore. Robert is a photographer, naturalist and birder whose photos have been featured in books, magazines and movies. Presented in conjunction with the AVIAN by Nature exhibition.
