  • What: Born Steven Markowitz and raised on Long Island, Hoodie is a frat-rap artist who is cut form the same cloth as the likes of Asher Roth and Sam Adams. Putting the pop in pop-rap Hoodie Allen had been an internet staple for years, but became a bonafide big name in 2010 off of the back of his breakout hit “You Are Not a Robot.” Now he’s headed to Vancouver for an all-ages show at the Vogue Theatre in support of his new album.

3rd Annual Ghost Story Slam

  • What: Ten performers will take the stage on the frightful night to conjure up tales designed to put shivers in your bones and spiders in your hair. Hear stories and poems that’ll give you goosebumps the size of golf balls.

13th Annual Culinary Apprenticeship Dinner

  • What: Young cooks from Fairmont Hotels in the Pacific Northwest region will strut their cooking stuff at the 13th Annual Culinary Apprenticeship dinner.  The event includes a cocktail reception, canapés, dinner, and wine. Head to the Ballroom of the Fairmont Waterfront to enjoy this year’s dinner themed ‘From Nose to Tail’, and after you’ve tasted everything, vote on your favourite dish.

A Walk in the Forest & Uplifted – Art Exhibition

  • What: Born in Scotland and based in Coquitlam, Sue Cowen celebrates the beauty of simple objects and experiences that make up everyday life with collections including a range of landscapes, figures, portraits, still life, and Celtic stones. Zoë Royer is a city councillor, creator of Sweetheart Bakery Press, business consultant and art gallery owner. Zoë loves all things beautiful and is a champion for the Environment and the Arts.

Depeche Mode

  • What: Following their massive European stadium showing, the English electronic legends are coming to North America with a 28-show tour taking in both the US and Canada. Depeche Mode’s Global Spirit Tour is in support of the band’s 14th studio album, Spirit. The album has already been well received by fans and critics alike, with many calling it a return to form for the 80s icons, who undoubtedly rank as one of the most influential acts of all time.

Memphis Blues BBQ Test Kitchen

  • What: Vancouver’s new curator of one-time interactive dining experiences, U-Feast, has teamed up with barbecue experts Memphis Blues to host the ultimate event – the BBQ Test Kitchen. You can go along to Memphis Blues on Commercial Drive on October 25 for a special five-course, off-menu evening of down south eats. During the feast the smokehouse owners, George and Park, will personally walk you through the wonders of their cuisine as you take a trip to the past with some barbecue dishes dishes from the good ole days.
