Vancouver eatery offering the ultimate take-home seafood feast

Christmas feasts typically involve a farm-to-table turkey, but we think the end of 2020 is a great reason to switch things up. A change sounds nice after the year we’ve had, and so does a break from the kitchen (cooking fatigue, anyone?).

This year, swap farm-to-table for tide-to-table for a uniquely fun and interactive holiday dinner like none other.

BC favourite Fanny Bay Oyster Bar has announced the launch of their ultimate take home and delivery charcuterie boxes and seafood boil kits — just in time for the coziest part of the season.

The thought of cooking a truly authentic seafood dinner can be daunting. Deciding what to order, how to prepare it, and how much to get takes time and planning, so we rarely entertain the idea of making it. But Fanny Bay has done all the hard work for us this year.

Included in the Seafood Charcuterie Box is smoked oysters, smoked mussels, candied sockeye salmon, Comox camembert, aged Farmhouse cheese, house-made pickled vegetables, olives, crackers, and orange marmalade. Now just imagine digging into that locally-sourced board on Christmas Eve or New Year’s Day. It also happens to come with a beautifully paired bottle of Open Estate Sauvignon Blanc, all for $55.

The Seafood Boil Kit really is the ultimate Christmas dinner feast. It’s easy and delicious, and best of all, it’s so much fun. Passing plates of sides we know and love is great, but cover that dinner table in newspaper (or festive wrapping paper) and have yourself a boil instead!

Inside each Seafood Boil Kit are all the classic fixings: Dungeness crab, mussels, clams, prawns, signature boil broth and spices, chorizo, green beans, potatoes, red peppers, corn salsa, and lemon. Cook it up with the provided two-step instructions from Fanny Bay and dive in! Each kit feeds up to four people and costs $69 (bottle of wine included).

Of course, you can add even more to either kit — or just place a custom order of your own design. The eatery’s takeout menu is filled with pots of clams, prawns, and as many oysters as you can eat — from over 12 varieties! The restaurant will even include a complimentary shucking knife if you order the Shucker’s Dozen that comes with lemon, mignonette, and crushed ice.

Sure, mashed potatoes and stuffing are great, but this just seems so much more memorable.

Add a bottle of wine to your order to really make Christmas dinner a party this year. Better yet? Order any of the famous Fanny Bay merch to wear together while you shuck and eat your way through your meal. Imagine the entire family around the table wearing “Fanny Bay Shucking Crew” shirts.

Customers are able to safely order everything ahead of time and pick up at the on-site Shellfish Market, socially-distanced of course. There’s also an option to have your order delivered straight to your home.

Daily deliveries are available from 12 pm to 6 pm on all Vancouver orders over $75 dollars, and to the Richmond area on orders over $100 dollars. Delivery fee is $10 to $15 dollars, depending on the delivery zone. You may have already seen the refrigerated ‘Fanny Vans’ driving around town for the holidays!

Fanny Bay’s take-home options are amazing all season long, but so are the deals inside. For the entire month of December, on every day of the week, Fanny Bay Oyster Bar is having a happy hour special from noon to 6 pm. Make a reservation to discover it first-hand with your members of your household. If that wasn’t enough, the restaurant is also doing a three-course dinner menu from 6 pm to close for $39.

Serve up adventure on a platter this season and place an order online for your ultimate take-home feast from Fanny Bay Oyster Bar. Trust us, there will be no fishing for compliments over how dinner turned out.
