5 of the best cafés in Vancouver where you can bring your dog

Jul 12 2017, 8:32 am

At last, you can stay out late in the evening sun with your four-legged friend.

Together you walk the seawall. You walk upon the sand at the Spanish Banks dog park. You hit up the pet store. You go hiking in Deep Cove.

He’s your best friend so he comes everywhere with you. And some days you just want to relax after you’re done walking Toby.

Luckily, there are a number of cafés in the city with patios offering stunning views of the harbour or the mountains. And they’ll welcome both of you with open arms so you don’t have to feel guilty about leaving your pooch at home because they can actually go out and dine with you.

To celebrate the fact, we’ve compiled a list of five of the best dog-friendly places where both of you can catch some downtime.

Coo Coo Coffee

Centrally located in Yaletown on Davie Street, Coo Coo Coffee is the perfect place to bring your pooch this summer. You can order a water for your best friend and a ‘blended chai tea’ smoothie to enjoy on the patio as the summer temperature rises. Coo Coo Coffee is known for its huge menu of cold blended drinks that are so good you might even order a second because the ‘tropical delight’ is calling your name.

Hit up this quaint little café when you have the urge for a delicious sweet or savoury crepe in the sun with your pooch at your feet. It’s centrally located on the corner of Cambie Street so you can get there easily and indulge in a sweet treat after traversing the seawall with Toby. Just remember to bring a treat along for Toby if he’s not a fan of pancakes.

Chaise on Main Street

This neighbourhood pub is the perfect place to dine al fresco on the patio as the sun sets with your doggy at your feet. It serves up mouthwatering comfort food like cheese quesadillas, jerk chicken flatbreads, salmon burgers, and more. And you can even order a local brew or a handcrafted cocktail to unwind. Chaise even has doggy bowls out on the patio so you’re practically invited in.

TAPshack

TAPshack (AKA The Pirate Pub) is conveniently located close to the seawall and boasts a patio where you can make the most of a summers day with your dog. Oh, happy hour specials are served up seven days a week h because you know, well, you might just get thirsty.

Coffee is calling your name after a long walk with your furry friend so you hit up Bonchaz Bakery Café on East Broadway for a caffeinated pick me up. It’s the perfect place for Toby to take a rest and have some water while you order a peanut butter brownie or a sweet banana walnut muffin. Just remember to bring some treats along for him too and everyone will be happy.
