How Vancouverites can spend date night before summer ends

In Vancouver, you learn pretty quickly that a little rain doesn’t cancel a date.
Locals still head out, maybe with a jacket, maybe without, and make the most of long summer days.
Whether it’s biking the seawall, hopping a ferry to Granville Island, or watching bunnies at sunset in Richmond, here are the spots we actually go to for low-key, fun summer dates.
1. Bike the Stanley Park Seawall
Rent a bike downtown and cruise along Vancouver’s iconic seawall. You’ll pass through beaches, forested paths, and city skylines, plus plenty of places to stop for snacks or photos.
It’s one of the most classic (and relaxed) Vancouver date ideas for good reason.
2. Hop the AquaBus to Granville Island
Catch a water taxi across False Creek to Granville Island and explore its bustling public market, local artisan shops, and waterfront eateries.
Then, take the ferry to Kits Point and stroll to Kits Beach for a breezy seaside walk.
3. Queen Elizabeth Park + Bloedel Conservatory
Looking for great views? Head up to Queen Elizabeth Park and take in the panoramic skyline and mountain backdrop.
If it starts to drizzle, duck into the Bloedel Conservatory, a warm indoor oasis filled with tropical plants and free-flying birds. (VanDusen Botanical Garden is just a few minutes away, too.)
4. Sunset beaches on Vancouver’s west side
Kits Beach, Jericho, Locarno, and Spanish Banks are all perfect for a relaxing beach hang, especially if you time it for low tide at Locarno or Spanish Banks.
For dinner-with-a-view, try:
- The Teahouse at Stanley Park
- Boathouse at Kits Beach
- Cactus Club or Craft Beer Market at English Bay
5. North Van escape via SeaBus
Start downtown and hop the SeaBus to Lonsdale Quay to explore the Shipyards District, home to food trucks, live music, and waterfront views.
From there, you can take a quick drive or transit trip up to Grouse Mountain for gondola rides, falconry shows, two resident grizzly bears, and jaw-dropping skyline views.
For a more low-key vibe, locals love Lynn Canyon Park, which offers a free suspension bridge and peaceful forest trails without the crowds.
