Deaths in Vancouver's West End deemed double homicide

A man and woman are dead in what police have deemed a double homicide in Vancouver’s West End on Sunday.

Just before 5 pm on Sunday, officers were called to 1835 Morton Avenue where they found the two people deceased.

The victims have been identified as a woman, 57, and a man, 51. Both were residents of Vancouver.

In a release, Vancouver police said a “person of interest” has been arrested and police said that based on the information collected so far, there is no indication that the public is at risk.

All parties involved are known to each other, police added.

This investigation is ongoing and VPD officers will remain in the area as it continues.

Vancouver police are also asking for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity around the apartment building, from the afternoon of Saturday, July the 8th to the early evening of Sunday, July the 9th, to call 604-717-2500, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leave a tip online at solvecrime.ca.

This investigation is ongoing and VPD officers will remain in the area as it continues.
