Vancouver Craft Beer Week (VCBW) kicked off this weekend with its opening Gala at the Yaletown Roundhouse. The evening was packed with over 20 participating breweries and enough beer to keep Ireland lubricated for a month.

The sixth annual VCBW was complemented with Vancouver Magazine’s inaugural Craft Beer Awards. Over 15 beers were recognized with awards with Steamworks Breweries Co. taking home Best in Show for their Imperial Red Ale.

Other notables winners were Bridge Brewing North Shore Pale Ale for North American Ale, Breakside Brewery Wanderlust IPA for best North American Ale.

The Gala was the first of many events this week around Vancouver and tickets for upcoming events can be found on the Vancouver Craft Beer Week website. Most of the events serve unlimited samples with your ticket.

VCBW will be closing with a bang this weekend, with its signature festival taking place at the PNE fairgrounds. Over 100 breweries will be serving over 400 samples.
