Next Weekend Live in Vancouver

Dec 19 2017, 12:50 pm

The upcoming weekend is bringing two musical legends and an international party sensation to Vancouver and tickets for all three gigs are still available.

First is a household name, Eric Clapton, one of the most important guitar players of all time and the only musician to be inducted into Rock ’N Roll Hall of Fame no less than three times. He is playing Feb 25th at the Rogers Arena (Tickets $83 – $177). In the 40 years since its release, his song Layla was played on the vinyls, tapes, cds, 8 tracks, iPods and radios literally millions of times. This is your chance to hear it live!

Next, Maceo Parker plays at The Commodore on Feb 26th (Tickets $51). Maybe you haven’t heard his name but you have surely heard his saxophone. He played on some of the most memorable recordings by James Brown in the 1960s as well as last seven albums with Prince. He’s bringing along an amazing band that has been billed “The Greatest Little Funk Orchestra on Earth” so put on your dancing shoes – it’s gonna be a wild night.

Third concert definitely worth checking out this weekend will be Balkan Beat Box, also at The Commodore (Sunday, Feb 27th, Tickets $44). Their mix of funk, electronica and gypsy punk promises a good party night reminiscent of Gogol Bordello who played at the same venue last Fall.
