As the weather gets colder, the comedians get funnier around Vancouver. Here are 10 hot comedy events to check out around the city this month.
Sean Devlin Live at the China Cloud
A full evening of stand up comedy with Vancouver based comedian and filmmaker Sean Devlin – best known for his work with The Yes Men and annoying former Prime Minister Stephen Harper (ShitHarperDid.com). Devlin has appeared at the Bumbershoot Music Festival and Just For Laughs Northwest, and been featured on CBC Radio, Upworthy.com and in the CTV mini-mini series The Party. Also featuring Ese Atawo and host Emma Cooper.

Teen Angst Night
Teen Angst Night is a comedic reading series where readers share embarrassing poetry, songs, letters, journals, diaries, essays, and stories from their teenage years. Hosted by Sara Bynoe.

Lights!

Debra DiGiovanni
Debra DiGiovanni has been called the “Best Comedian to see after a Messy Break Up”, and for three years running was named Canada’s favorite female comedian. She was a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, often appears on CBC radio’s The Debaters, and has become a nationwide favorite on the hugely popular Much Music’s Video On Trial.

John Cleese and Eric Idle
In Together Again At Last…For The Very First Time, John Cleese and Eric Idle will blend scripted and improvised bits with storytelling, musical numbers, exclusive footage and aquatic juggling to create a unique comedic experience with every performance.

Alonzo Bodden
Alonzo Bodden is the third season winner of Last Comic Standing, and has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and The Keenen Ivory Wayans show. His film credits include Scary Movie 4, The Girl Next Door, and Bringing Down the House starring Steve Martin and Queen Latifah.

Geekenders’ presents The Rocky Horror Show by Richard O’Brien
The Geekenders’ presents the original live stage version of The Rocky Horror Show just in time for Halloween. As always, audience participation is encouraged – feel free to dress in costume and yes, prop bags will be available for purchase in the lobby. This deliberately kitschy, rock ‘n’ roll, gothic sci-fi parody will be more fun than you’ve ever seen it when it’s performed by Vancouver’s favourite nerdlesque troupe.
