This year many feared that the 36th annual Vancouver Chinese new year parade would be postponed due to…what else the Olympics. However, don’t fret the parade will march on with a slight time and route adjustment. Basically the parade must be finished before hordes of people pile into G.M. Place for a hockey game.
This year is the year of The Tiger (how appropriate eh Mr. Woods, ha!) and the Vancouver Chinese and non-Chinese community will be celebrating with the annual Chinese New Year Parade in Chinatown.
Also don’t expect as many firecrackers to be go off like crazy as they normally would do, me thinks the Olympics might interfere with that aspect of the festivities as well. However, good food will be in abundance and close to 100,000 will be on hand to witness the colourful festivities. Perhaps, Peter Chao can also locate his father?
