Vancouver Cheap Eats: Long weekend brunch spots

Dec 19 2017, 3:18 pm

Long weekends are right up there with a roasting duck or suckling pig; you can smell the anticipation. Paired with glorious weather and you’ve got the exact conditions for our favorite cardio activity: brunch.

Since you’ll be brunching on repeat with the rest of the yoga-pant clad, Vancity Buzz and Chowmenow have rounded up some cheap brunch spots where you can bask in the bacon and egg glory without breaking the bank.  And there’s no need to set your alarm, as these are served all day long. Strap on your runners, it’s time to work out.

NSCS Discovery Café

NSCS Discovery Cafe

Pair students with travellers and you can be guaranteed to find a good dining deal. Tucked away in the HI hostel on Jericho Beach is the NSCS Discovery Café. Ran by students from The North Shore Culinary School, order up the classic breakfast: two eggs any style, bacon or sausage served with hash browns and a homemade biscuit for $4.95. A good view, a good cause, a good price and a good breakfast. Save us a seat.

Bob’s Submarine Sandwiches

The hardest part about eating here is deciding between sausage, bacon or ham. Sharing the plate with two eggs and hashbrowns, you can’t beat the $3.50 price tag. For a dollar more you can add toast. Hey it’s the weekend, splurge a little!

Yummy Sushi

Yummy Sushi

For cheap eat connoisseurs, Yummy Sushi certainly isn’t a secret. When you’re craving a hearty breakfast with the traditional suspects, naturally you’ll think of a place that has “Yummy” and “Sushi” in the name, right? If you wake with a sweet tooth this weekend, opt for their French toast for only $2.99.

Marilulu Café

Marilulu

The mini breakfast is served with bacon, one egg, one tomato, one hashbrown and toast for $3.99 (or add a waffle for an extra $1.99 if you feel like a real baller).

Trixi’s Crepe and Coffeehaus

These Trix aren’t for kids. From butter and sugar to raspberry jam, maple syrup to honey lemon sprinkled with powdered sugar, these crepes are all $5 or less. Sweet.

Wherever you decide to brunch (it’s a verb, trust us), make sure to post your review by Sunday night, as Monday we’ll be picking the winner of the FREE LUNCH CONTEST!

Happy Long Weekend!
