Vancouver Cheap Eats: Gorgelicious Takeover

While searching for inspiration to bring you the best new cheap dishes around Vancouver, you can usually find us perusing Instagram for drool-worthy eats that won’t break the bank. That’s how we stumbled across @GorgeliciousVancouver, a Vancouverite who is always updating her account with food pics that make us want to jump through the screen.

So today, Vancity Buzz and ChowMeNow are excited to bring you our first Cheap Eats takeover featuring Gorgelicious! She’s taking the reigns and bringing you her top five dishes under $5 in this amazing city.

This food cart only sells two items: $2.85 for a burger or $3.50 for a cheeseburger. So simple, so fresh, so good — so worth the wait! There’s something about that sauce that will keep you asking for more.

Here you’ll find all kinds of steamed buns for under $2, and these aren’t the small ones you get at dim sum, these buns are massive. Good enough for a light snack or a meal if you get a variety. Buy six or more and it’s tax-free! New Town Bakery & Restaurant also serves delicious pastries for $2 and other dim sum items for less than $5.

The good thing about Costco food court is that you don’t need membership to eat here. A hot dog and a pop is just $1.50 or chow down on poutine for just under $4.39 (pro tip: chocolate and vanilla twist cones can be found here for only $1.99).

Places that are open 24/7 are always a win. Places that are open 24/7 and sell good donuts, amazing burgers, subs (Vietnamese subs too!), and even better fried chicken for under $5? Now that’s a win-win. The question is, what doesn’t Duffin’s Donuts sell? You have a tamale craving but also want a chili cheese dog? Yep, they got it.
