Vancouver Cheap Eats: Fairview

Dec 19 2017, 4:10 pm

If you work, study, or just happen to find yourself in Fairview, you’re in luck, because whenever your stomach starts grumbling there are loads of restaurants to go for a $5 nosh. These cheap eats are easily accessible by both bike, Skytrain and bus routes that run frequently along Broadway. So whether you’re on your lunch break or waiting for the 99B Line, Vancity Buzz and Chowmenow know just where you should spend that chump change.

Ichibankan Express

To-go options here are fast and filling, plus they don’t skimp on the portion size. Besides the assorted sashimi combo, absolutely everything is under $5. We highly recommend the spicy beef roll.

Old Ginger Restaurant

Old Ginger

Old Ging’ has some good options if you’re in a dim sum kind of mood. Besides these cheap eats listed above, the appetizer menu has vegetable spring rolls, jello noodles in a house special sauce, or deep fried tofu for under $4.95.

Happy Donair and Grill

Happy Donair

Did you know that hot dogs originated from Turkey? Okay fine, we’re making that up, but at these prices let’s just be Happy and go with it.

People underestimate how difficult it is to decide what to order, especially when faced with a menu like this. For the hungry morning go-getters, you can’t go wrong with the Grilled Breakfast Burritos (steak, egg, and cheese is a must). For the lighter folk, cranberry almond crunch organic oatmeal is another sure bet.

La Taqueria

La Taqueria

Here cheap eat connoisseurs congregate to chat and chow on all things taco. Most flavours (and there’s a lot!) fall under the $2.50 range.
