Commercial Drive can be described in one word: eclectic. Here you can expect a little bit of everything, from restaurants to bars, bakeries to cafes. And the crowd is no different, as stroller-pushing moms walk alongside dreadlocked hippies, Italian men sipping cappuccinos, and students rushing to catch the 99 B Line.
Grab a beer, order gluten-free, chow on a vegan cupcake, eat breakfast for dinner; whatever you want, rest assured you’ll find it on The Drive. If that doesn’t set this area of Vancouver apart, the fact that this street is streaming with five dollar eats certainly will. So come join Vancity Buzz and Chowmenow as we stroll along Commercial.

Great prices, large portions, friendly service and tasty food. Anything else? Oh right, the all-day breakfast that comes with two strips of bacon, two eggs, hash browns and toast for less than four dollars.
Cheap pizza is not the only thing that these brothers are serving for less than a #ChowDeal. There are also chicken strips or spaghetti and meatballs for only $4.99.
The main attraction here is the pupusas. Just $2.75 each, they’re stuffed with re-fried beans, cheese, pork, then fried and served with coleslaw and hot sauce. Don’t forget the tostadas in chicken, beef, or vegetarian for $5.
If the name of the menu item is the same name as the restaurant, then you know you have to order it. Chicken or pork on a stick is $2.49, while two spring rolls are $4.59. Then there are the salad rolls ranging from $2.99 for veggie up to $3.79 for shrimp.
Though you can order cheap and decent pizza by the slice, for us the main attraction has to be their gooey poutine. For $4.99, it’s all gravy baby.
