Cat lovers rejoice, we have some purrific news! Catfé, the Vancouver cat café and shelter, is one step closer to opening.

Michelle Furbacher, Cat-sitter and cat photographer, made the announcement that the permit for the project has been approved.

“It’s official,” she wrote on her blog, “The City of Vancouver has approved our permit application, and we will be starting construction and renovations in the next couple of weeks!”

The location will be International Village Mall at 88 West Pender Street, in the southwest corner on the second floor. Below is a photo of the new Catfé location posted on the Facebook Page.

After an Indiegogo Campaign, which raised $32,125 towards the project, ended last year, the Catfé has been steadily moving forward.

Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA) and Furbacher have teamed up to make the Catfé a place where you can sip on coffee, east pastries and maybe adopt a cat. Not only can you love and cuddle the felines, the space will also be a shelter and orphanage for cats.

VOKRA will be providing the cute kitties who are available for adoption.

Vancouver’s first cat café is aiming to open in October 2015.
