Pair of Vancouver Canucks players cozy up to FBI Director Kash Patel

The Vancouver Canucks appear to have some pretty close ties to the White House.

With the Canucks taking on the Washington Capitals this weekend in the American capital, it’d make sense for players of the team to potentially check out some of the historic sites and tourist attractions.

But Canucks forwards Evander Kane and Conor Garland went almost right to the top of the American political command chain.

Kane and Garland were seen taking photos after the game with FBI Director Kash Patel, a close ally of U.S. President Donald Trump.

“Just a bunch of hockey guys,” Kane wrote in the caption of the post shared to his Instagram story.

Kane also posted a photo Saturday night of having dinner with Patel.

Kane is a native of Vancouver, while Garland is from Massachusetts. Patel, meanwhile, is a notorious hockey superfan. He raised eyebrows when he was seen inside of Wayne Gretzky’s box for a Capitals game last season, with the pair in attendance for Alex Ovechkin’s all-time goals scored record chase.

Journalist and podcaster Pablo Torre, who has recently gone viral for covering stories such as Kawhi Leonard cap circumvention allegations and inside details about Bill Belichick’s disaster season as North Carolina’s football coach, also did an episode earlier this year about Patel’s hockey ties.

Along with the Toronto Star’s Bruce Arthur, Torre documented Patel’s deep hockey fandom, including the news that he’s in his own adult hockey rec league taking place on Sunday nights in the D.C. area.

If there’s any questions about Kane’s political leanings, he’s not leaving much to the imagination anymore.

Kane also attended Trump’s second presidential inauguration earlier this year while a member of the Edmonton Oilers, taking a photo with Patel and Gretkzy, who was also on scene.
