Vancouver Canucks prospect Cole McWard is off the market.

The 23-year-old, who has logged six career NHL games to date, popped the question to his girlfriend Giuliana earlier this week. He did so in Vanier Park in Kitsilano.

“The most pure love there ever was — here’s to being each other’s greatest gifts in life forever. To the McWard’s,” Giuliana wrote in an Instagram post.

The couple have been together for some time, with McWard’s first post of the two together coming back in May of 2023.

McWard is currently in his second season of professional hockey, most of which has been spent in the AHL. The undrafted blueliner has logged 54 games this season, registering five goals and 21 points.

His lone NHL goal in his six career games came back in 2022-23, where he suited up for five of those contests on the Canucks’ back end after being signed as a free agent following his sophomore season with Ohio State University.

“My parents got to watch this game, so that was awesome they got to see that one. Definitely happy I got to score in front of them,” McWard told reporters following the goal. “My dad’s probably not cursing me out in the stands tonight. That’s awesome they got to see it.”

McWard still has some work to do in order to become an every day NHL defenceman, though he and Giuliana will also be plenty busy moving forward as they begin to plan their wedding day.
