The Vancouver Canucks are expected to be without defenceman Noah Juulsen for the remainder of the season.
CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal is reporting that the 27-year-old rearguard is set to undergo hernia surgery.

Juulsen last played back on Jan. 14 in a 6-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. He sat out several games afterward before being placed on injured reserve this past Saturday with what was considered an undisclosed injury at the time.
Juulsen has played in 35 games with the Canucks this season, failing to record a point while averaging 16:17 minutes of ice time. He’s played a big role in the penalty kill when in the lineup, averaging north of two minutes per game on it, the fourth most of any Canucks blue liner.
The Canucks will have a decision to make on Juulsen going forward, as he’s set to become an UFA this coming offseason. There was a chance they could have looked to move him for a mid-round pick ahead of the trade deadline, but this injury update shuts the door on that opportunity.
The Canucks currently have eight defencemen on their roster not including Juulsen in Quinn Hughes, Filip Hronek, Marcus Pettersson, Tyler Myers, Derek Forbort, Carson Soucy, Elias Pettersson, and Vittorio Mancini. None will be called up due to this latest update, though one could soon be reassigned to the AHL following Hughes’ return to the lineup last night.
