Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser is well aware of the comments his GM Patrik Allvin made regarding his trade value.
Allvin got brutally honest when speaking with reporters following yesterday’s trade deadline, specifically when it came to Boeser. The expectation was that the pending UFA would be moved to a Stanley Cup contender, though he remained on the roster past the deadline and will finish out the 2024-25 season in Vancouver.
āIf I told you what I was offered for Brock Boeser, I think I would have to run out of here because you would not believe me,ā Allvin said when asked why the 28-year-old wasn’t moved.
While it would be easy to understand Allvin’s frustration at the lack of interest in Boeser, it’s rather odd to come out and voice it publicly as he did. It’s also strange to hear that his value was so low given that Boeser, even in a down year, still has 18 goals and 38 points through 55 games.
The eight-year NHL veteran admitted he’s seen Allvin’s comments, but hasn’t “processed all of it.”
Boeser told me & @risingaction post game that he did read Allvinās comments about the trade market for him & hasnāt really processed all of it. Reemphasized how loyal he has been to #Canucks over the years & was more focused being better in tonightās game. Expects heāll speak toā¦

With Boeser remaining in Vancouver, the expectation is that talks regarding an extension will pick back up in the near future. That said, there seems to be a sizeable gap between teh two parties, making a return in 2025-26 far from a sure thing.
What can be viewed as excitement for Boeser and his teammates is that despite their disappointing season, making the playoffs is still very much a do-able feat. In fact, with last night’s 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild, they were able to jump ahead of the Calgary Flames to take over the final wild-card position in the Western Conference.
