Legendary Vancouver landmark, Bimini’s in Kits is back
Bimini’s, the perfect pub, is back! Vancouver’s local live music scene is nothing without this historic venue that’s been around for 50 years in the heart of Kitsilano.
“The Bimini” opened in 1975 and quickly became “the” destination for live music, nightlife, and great spirits. Above all, it quickly became Kitsilano’s community pub and served as a launching pad for countless local bands and musicians earning its place in the Vancouver music scene.
Last year, Harsh Sharma, owner of the Bombay Indian Restaurant Group and The Main on Main, caught a glimpse of Bimini’s. Following Sharma’s remarkable success in revitalizing The Main on Main, Sharma was eager for the opportunity to renew another venue that captured a similar charm and community history.
“In October 2024, we immediately reached out to the owner when we learned that Bimini’s was up for sale,” Sharma tells Daily Hive.
Inspired to revitalize
Today, with the new ownership steering the direction to Bimini’s revival, Sharma set goals with his team to restore Bimini’s to the beloved venue and unlock its undeniable potential as the “perfect pub.”
Step 1: rebrand “Bimini’s Since 1975” to honour the rich history and celebrate the 50-year legacy of this Kitsilano institution.
Step 2: drive a thoughtful restoration to create comfortable zones for a meal by the fireplace, sports on the big screen, live musicians, a pop-by cafe at ground level, and of course, the pool table! All this was carefully planned to return Bimini’s to its glory days of community: entertainment, music, and great pub food.
Bimini’s new team features Sash Pavlovic, Sharma’s trusted right-hand who leads the charge in shaping the food and dining experience. Driving the revitalized events and marketing is Kostas Nikolaou, whom Sharma calls “the only one among us with a true connection to the original The Bimini.” As Bimini’s digital storyteller, Kostas ensures the pub stays true to the spirit he once knew and loved.
“Our vision is to build on the incredible foundation and blueprint previously set by those who came before us and to invite everyone back to experience the perfect pub magic of Bimini’s,” says Sharma.
“Now, with an exciting new menu, we’re proud to host events for our multi-generational community – hosting everything from live music, sporting events, and a vibrant DJ scene for the late night crowd. Bimini’s is the perfect pub experience that blends nostalgia with a fresh, modern vibe.”
Bimini’s Since 1975’s new, exciting menu elevates the entire food and drink experience beyond what you’d expect. “We’ve introduced a refreshed menu that strikes a balance between classic pub favourites and modern west coast inspired dishes,” Sharma tells us.
As for the drinks, Bimini’s has brought on an amazing lineup of local craft breweries to celebrate what Vancouver has to offer.
Bimini’s future and beyond
Sharma describes the future of the venue with a renewed sense of purpose, describing their commitment to the guest experience, live entertainment, and the fresh interior updates. It’s all about staying true to those rockin’ roots while looking ahead to a bright and shiny new chapter.
One such investment is the kick-off of the new Saturday afternoon Live Music event series. Saturdays at Bimini’s offers an unmatched afternoon hangout that spotlights incredible musicians curated in partnership with local promoters.
“Simply put — we want people to walk in and feel like it’s still their Bimini’s, just better than ever,” Sharma says.
