If you’ve never experienced the Vancouver Aquarium at this time of year, you’re missing out on one of the city’s most magical holiday displays. During Luminescence—a celebration of aquatic light, the Aquarium is aglow with numerous installations to showcase how animals use and create light in the depths of the ocean.
One of the highlights of Luminescence is Jelly Swarm, located in the Pacific Canada Pavilion. Created by Vancouver-based Tangible Interaction along with origami artist Joseph Wu, Jelly Swarm features 100 origami jellies dangling from the ceiling and illuminated by LED lights.
Jelly Swarm includes 100 glowing origami jellies that dangle from the ceiling of the Vancouver Aquarium to brighten your spirits this holiday season.
Visitors can make the light dance over their heads as they run their finger along a touch screen interface. Held together by a laser-cut aluminum structure, the rainbow of colours produced by the lights is reflected onto the floor and surrounding space to create an immersive experience.
Luminescence runs until January 22, 2014. Visit vanaqua.org for more information.
