According to Mercer’s annual Cost of Living survey, Toronto (59th on the worldwide ranking) has overtaken Vancouver, which now is at 65 worldwide, to become the most expensive Canadian city to live in. This may surprise many Vancouverites but when you consider other factors, other than house prices this makes sense. Our rental rates aren’t as high when compared to the centre of the universe aka Toronto.
If Vancouver could ever get it’s act together and become a hot bed for head offices in the country, region, world it would be far more expense.
Other Canadian city rankings of importance are Montreal (79), Calgary (96) and coming in at 114 is Ottawa.
