Yesterday the Vancouver 2010 Paralympics torch relay kicked off in our nation’s capital, Ottawa. Canadian celebrity Rick Mercer was one of the torch bearers. Here is the schedule for the rest of the torch relay, it definitely isn’t as long as the 2010 Winter Olympic relay.

March 4: Quebec City
March 5: Toronto
March 6: Esquimalt and Victoria: The torch touches down in B.C. and will start its provincial journey.
March 7: Squamish
March 8: Whistler
March 9: Lytton & Hope: The torch makes its way into the Fraser Valley
March 10: Vancouver (Riley Park) and Maple Ridge
March 11: Vancouver (UBC)
March 12: Vancouver:  This will be a 24 hour relay as the torch touches down into downtown Vancouver en route to the opening ceremonies at BC Place of the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

A 24-hour relay will start near Robson Square in downtown Vancouver beginning at 2:00 pm on March 11. The lower level of GM Plaza will be the site of celebrations, a video screen will show Paralympic Games highlights and visitors can watch and try out Paralympic sport demonstrations.
The Paralympic Flame will be continuously carried and passed between torchbearers for 24 hours. The event will conclude at 12:00 pm on March 12.
