The month of February of this past year brought with anticipation what the city of Vancouver had been planning for in the last five years – the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The Olympic Games are a highly covered media event with accreditation usually coming from one main media centre. This set of Games was a bit different because there were three distinct media centres providing accreditation: the official media centre, the unofficial media centre and self-accreditated media centre known as True North Media House. TNMH was the first of its kind and allowed many local and international journalists the ability to cover the Games in their own format and voices. TNMH raised the bar for what accreditation can look like for future Olympic Games.

One of the unfortunate side effects of city wide clean-up effort in Vancouver just before the Winter Olympic Games was that some amazing artistic street murals got repainted over, such was the case for the original Beatty Street mural.
