Based on the great success of last year’s event, the celebrated Van Doren Invitational returns to Vancouver this summer bringing yet another thrilling exhibition of skateboarding to the legendary Hastings Skatepark on July 10 and 11. Top skaters from around the globe will battle it out for top honours and their piece of the $75,000 prize purse.

In partnership with skateboarding authority Thrasher Magazine, the Van Doren Invitational will hit the world stage on July 11 via live webcast at thrashermagazine.com/vdicanada and vans.com/vdicanada.

“I can’t wait to bring the Van Doren spirit back to the iconic Hastings park for the second Canadian edition of the Van Doren Invitational,” said Steve Van Doren, Vans Vice President of Events and Promotions. “Get ready to make history once again with the world’s best pro skaters and the most exciting skateboarding you’ll witness all summer.”

The invite-only competition will showcase today’s best talent in modern day parkriding, including Vans riders Curren Caples and Chris Russell, plus more, like 2014 Vans Pool Party winner Tristan Rennie and reigning 2014 Van Doren Invitational Canada champion Alex Sorgente.

The high-profile, international park jam is free and open to the public, welcoming local fans, spectators and families to join the fun during this all-ages occasion. This year’s celebration will transform Hastings park into a public art installation, with design direction by prominent graffiti artists Virus and Ben Tour, along with a supporting lineup of local artists. Spectators are invited to explore all the summer activities offered in the exciting Vans village featuring exclusive Van Doren Invitational merchandise from the Vans shoebox container, food and beverage stations, music by DJ Vinyl Ritchie and plenty of free giveaways.
