4 Valentine's Day card makers from Vancouver

While some argue that Valentine’s Day is a heinously commercialized holiday, it is really just a chance to tell the special people in your life you love them, and, of course, buy them gifts.

Roses, candy and lingerie are nice, but sometimes there is nothing better than a hand-written Valentine’s Day card. You can certainly indulge your inner elementary schooler and bust out the construction paper and glitter to make your cards.

However, there are also some local Vancouver companies that are making cool rather than sappy Valentines that will please anyone from your best friend, to your first date or husband of 40 years. Check them out:

Lost Boy

Founded by two crafty Vancouverites, Lost Boy has a card for all the Valentines in your life. The simple sketches on these cards are paired with messages that would make the biggest Hallmark-boycotter smile. You’ll earn extra points with the “Your face is my TV show” card, and the Dido-inspired card will be perfect for all your single girlfriends. Check out their website for local stockists and purchase in store to ensure you get them in time for the big V day.

Dani Press

This Vancouver stationary company was launched based on founder Dani’s love for words and photography. These cards are so beautiful that your Valentine will be hanging them on their fridge for weeks to come, or maybe even framing them! Dani’s newest selection of cards are guaranteed to produce warm fuzzies in the hearts of those that you love the most. New cards can be found here.

You’re what we call a real moonshot, a four-base knock, a tape measure blast, a home run.

Port Paper creates a selection of stationary products using a letterpress on cotton paper. Their handmade greeting cards feature cheeky illustrations and captions that will make for the perfect Valentine’s greeting. The L’Amour card will speak to the biologist, romantic saps in your life. Find these cards at various locations across the city or purchase them online.
