Canadian officials are closely monitoring the situation aboard a US ship that’s docked in BC where crew members have tested positive for COVID-19.

The ship is docked in the Lower Mainland within the Fraser Health region, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said Thursday.

“They have been tested over the last couple of days, and there have been a number of the 10 crew members who have tested positive,” she said.

“Anyone who has tested positive is in quarantine and being monitored.”

Transport Canada tweeted Thursday afternoon that it’s aware of the situation and is working with other agencies to make sure safety protocol is followed.

Federal authorities as well as the BC Centre for Disease Control and Fraser Health are monitoring the situation, Henry said.
