Uncle Tetsu Metrotown just revealed what will be on its opening menu
It’s been one hell of a wait, but we’ve finally got an idea of when Japanese mega-chain Uncle Tetsu will be opening its first ever BC location, and even better, we know exactly what will be on the menu.
The Uncle Tetsu team tells Daily Hive they know this location will be a “great success” because they’ve had a ton of requests from BC residents over the years.

Metro Vancouver has been waiting to get its own Uncle Tetsu since the Japanese-dessert chain first touched down in Toronto in 2015. But now, the wait is almost over for us West Coasters.

The team says the Metrotown store will be a lot like the flagship location in Toronto located at 598 Bay Street. The new shop will sit right next to the recently opened MUJI store in the Hudson’s Bay wing of the mall.
A member of the Uncle Tetsu team told Daily Hive that there will be three items up for order when Uncle Tetsu Metrotown opens the first week of May (exact date coming soon).

Uncle Tetsu’s Cheesecake
No surprise here, this spot’s signature fluffy, and Tetsu-stamped Japanese Cheesecake will arguably be the most popular item up for order. Typically customers are limited to one cake per person due to high demand.
Honey Madeleine
How could we turn down any baked good described as “luscious and moist?” This is one buttery cupcake we are glad will be on Metrotown’s menu. Uncle Tetsu recommends you warm the Madeleine in the microwave for 15 seconds for an optimum eating experience.
Uncle Tetsu’s Rusk
This is like a miniature version of the cheesecake. Uncle Tetsu slices their signature Japanese cheesecake into biscuit size, add a sprinkle of sugar, and then they bake it again until it gets all crispy. It’s like biscotti glowed-up and became a rusk.
