The Original Ugly Christmas Sweater Party returns to the Commodore Ballroom

Dec 20 2017, 2:48 am

Break out that jumper your grandma knitted for you in Grade 8 – the Ugly Christmas Sweater Party is here again.

As one of Metro Vancouver’s most beloved holiday shindigs, the Ugly Christmas Sweater Party has its roots in a house party tradition, started by three friends in Coquitlam in 2002. Since then, the party has massively grown, from a small house party amongst friends to a annual celebration for the people of Metro Vancouver.

This year’s event takes place at the Commodore Ballroom, featuring a ton of hilarious holiday fun, including live music, sing-alongs, a dance party, milk and cookies, prizes for Ugliest Sweater, Most Original Sweater, Best Moustache, and Best Group Costume.

Not only is the Ugly Christmas Sweater Party a great way to celebrate the holidays, it’s a great way to support kids. The team behind the party recently launched Now That’s Ugly, a non-profit supporting the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada. Just last year $60,000 was raised in support of Children’s Wish, and the hope is to donate a whole lot more this year.

Tickets are $35, and the party is 19+.
