After distributing several hundreds of dollars through an ATM in Mississauga, ON, a second stunt took place on September 6. For 48 hours, users of the Watch_Dogs Live application were invited to interact through social media.
The entire event was broadcasted over the web and through the application. The #WDLive hashtag was trending in Canada and saw several users from abroad join the adventure. The Watch_Dogs Live application, which has already surpassed the 120,000 download mark, has more surprises in the upcoming weeks.

Watch_Dogs Live gives players the opportunity to become Canada’s ultimate hacker. Using geo-location, Watch_Dogs Live players are able to move through their own Canadian city where they compete to gain control of vulnerable sites. As players gain experience and level up to outwit other hackers, they are given access to more sites to climb the leaderboard. Additionally, there are four special missions where group hacking unleashes events in the real world, allowing players to experience a real-life Watch Dogs inspired scenario prior to the game’s release.
Speaking of scenarios, Crack for Cash was the first. Back in July, Dedsec infiltrated Michael G. Aronson’s bank account and dispensed Aronson’s cash to the public in a shopping mall in Mississauga.
A free promotional application, Watch Dogs Live can be downloaded for Apple and Android devices. Users without iOS or Android devices interested in joining the adventure can do so by visiting the Watch Dogs Live website at www.watchdogslive.ca and signing up.
About Watch Dogs
In Watch Dogs, players will experience the realities of living in our fully connected society, where individuals and corporations are at risk of exposure by our ever-increasing reliance on networks and technology.
Players will assume the role of Aiden Pearce, a new type of vigilante who, with the help of his smartphone, will use his ability to hack into Chicago’s central operating system (ctOS) and control almost every element of the city. Aiden will be able to tap into the city’s omnipresent security cameras, download personal information to locate a target, control systems such as traffic lights or public transportation to stop a chase, and more. The city of Chicago is now the ultimate weapon.
Watch Dogs will be available in North America in November 2013 for the Sony PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Microsoft Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, the Wii U™ system from Nintendo and PC, as well as at the launch of the PlayStation®4 from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) and Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft.
