Uber pushing hard to build Vancouver team, despite moratorium

Ride-sharing service Uber may not be allowed to operate again in Vancouver for several months, but that’s not stopping them from building their management team here.

The app-based car service is under a recently-imposed six month moratorium in Vancouver thanks to the aggressive opposition of the taxi and limousine industry, however Uber is not only looking for prospective drivers, but they’re also hiring for key management positions.

The half-year hold on Uber’s much-discussed return to B.C. is intended to be used “to study what the impacts might be of several changes to taxi licensing in the city, including how a ride-share service like Uber would fit into the picture,” according to CBC Vancouver.

Uber may want to get the whole city into their vehicles, but so far the Yellow Cab company has already said in no uncertain terms they will not tolerate their employees signed up to drive for the dark side Uber.

Here’s what Uber told CBC Vancouver about their tactics:

“We have made it no secret that we hope to return to Vancouver, and knowing that it takes time to build the perfect team, we’re eager to talk to people.”
