Several large trees are on fire at the UBC University Endowment Lands. The blaze was first reported around 11:30pm on Tuesday night. Firefighters are on the scene at the fire near BC Botanical Garden. The coast guard is on scene and provincial assistance has been requested as reported by The Vancouver Sun.
No word on how the fire started and what kind of damage it has done. The fire started near Wreck Beach and is now ¾ of a hectare in size. However, it is not expanding quickly so at this time it is not a threat to homes or buildings.
There are no disruptions right now at campus, there are some minor transit delays.
