Rumour: U2 Vancouver 2015 concerts announcement Wednesday morning

Dec 19 2017, 9:01 pm

Rumours are floating around saying one of the biggest touring bands of all time, U2, will announce two 2015 tour dates at Rogers Arena on Wednesday morning.

According to Italian fansite U2place.com, the band will be kicking off their first tour in four years in Vancouver with dates possibly set for May 14 and 15, 2015.

The same site also suggests the ‘Innocence and Experience’ tour will include eight dates in Los Angeles, four in Montreal and Boston, six in Chicago and eight in New York.

A Boston radio station and CBS affiliate also hints at the scope and size of the tour. “U2 is moving from stadiums to arenas on this tour, scaling back the sheer size (and increasing the total number) of individual shows,” they posted on their website Tuesday afternoon.

“This setup could make their shows more intimate than the gargantuan 360 Tour, and give the band more flexibility and variation with their setlists.”

While the rumours are unconfirmed, radio stations across North America, including Vancouver, have been tweeting about a huge concert announcement happening Wednesday morning.

The 2009 U2 360° Tour was the last time the band played in Vancouver. The world tour was the highest grossing tour of all time, with over seven million attending 110 dates around the world, earning the band $736 million.

An official announcement is set for Wednesday morning at 6 a.m. Stay tuned for more information.
