It’s a win for Vancouver’s Two For The Bar. The cocktail chronicle took home Editors’ Choice in the 6th Annual SAVEUR Blog Awards.

The food and drink publication gives their yearly nods to online publications, and when it comes to Best Spirits or Cocktail Coverage, the 2015 Editors’ Choice belongs to Vancouverite Talia Kleinplatz, who launched Two For The Bar in 2013.

Kleinplatz, who loves sharing drinks, clearly excels at sharing her love of drinks on her blog. (The second of the titular “Two” is her husband, Kleinplatz explains.)

Happy hump day peeps! Can I interest you in a Paloma?

Readers of Two For The Bar will find a “Cocktail of the Day” pick, tips for home bartending, lists curated by Vancouver bar stars, interviews, and much more drinks intel, with her stunning photographs.

We connected with Kleinplatz via e-mail to find out a bit more about blogging Vancouver’s cocktail scene and her experience at the Awards.

What are some of the most blog-worthy aspects of Vancouver’s cocktail scene?

Talia Kleinplatz: People may or may not realize it but we’re living in a second golden age of cocktails right now. Vancouver is at the forefront of that revival as far as the Canadian and global scenes goes. Local bartenders are so committed to developing excellent bar programs and providing guests with an exceptional experience. Local restaurants are starting to put just as much emphasis on an outstanding cocktail program as an exceptional wine list and consumers are certainly starting to take note.

Well @bambuddagastown, you certainly know how to make a gal swoon.

How do sites like your impact the drinking (and dining) scene locally and globally?

I think that for people that haven’t explored the world of craft cocktails before, the scene can sometimes feel a bit intimidating or unknown. My goal (and I think the goal of many bloggers in this category) is to make cocktails approachable and to inspire people to perhaps try something that they haven’t experienced before. When people read my blog, I want them to leave with a sense of curiosity about their local cocktail scene and a desire to check it out for themselves, to talk to their local bartenders about their creations and to try something new.

Are there other cocktail or food blogs that inspire you?

There are almost too many to name! Gastronomista (this year’s winner of the SAVEUR’s People’s Choice award for cocktail coverage) is most definitely up there. I Am a Food Blog, My Name Is Yeh, Smitten Kitchen and Two Red Bowls are amazing. Joann Pai (of Slice of Pai and Acorn Mag) is a constant source of inspiration with her incredible photography.

What was the experience like at the Awards?

The awards were held in New York City this year which was amazing in and of itself. The city has such a well-established, vibrant craft cocktail scene and I was lucky enough to check out some of my bucket list spots while I was in town. It was such a privilege to be surrounded by so many talented bloggers from around the world. Nominees came from as far as Melbourne, Slovenia, and Amsterdam.
