Around 4:30 p.m. on February 2, 2014, two 11-year-old girls were playing at the park adjacent to Strathcona Elementary School when they were involved in an argument with a man over the ownership of the girl’s backpacks.

The argument escalated to the point that both of the girls were allegedly assaulted by the man.

The girls ran home and told their parents, who then called police.

When police arrived at the park, the man could not be located.

Police are looking for an Cantonese-speaking Asian man in his 40’s, with a heavy build. The man was wearing a red and brown plaid jacket with a hood and blue jeans.

Police believe that there were other people in the park at the time of the incident, that have not yet spoken to police.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or knows the identity of this man, is asked to call the Vancouver Police at (604) 717-3321 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
