1,000+ positions to fill at Tsawwassen Mills shopping centre job fair

Over 1,000 positions need to be filled at an upcoming job fair for the first 60 retailers opening at the new Tsawwassen Mills.

The massive shopping centre will have 200 retailers, including 16 anchor tenants, spanning 1.2 million square feet of indoor space on Highway 17 and 52nd Street – near B.C. Ferries’ terminal in Tsawwassen.

Upon opening, the shopping centre will have a mix of outlet stores and retailers, including Metro Vancouver’s first Saks OFF 5th and Bass Pro Shops which are 145,500 square feet and 32,687 square feet in size, respectively. Other stores include Puma, Reebok, Urban Planet, Adidas, Winners, Sport Chek, HMV, H&M, Forever 21, Gap Factory Store, Guess, La Vie en Rose, Lindt, Marshalls, Bench, Banana Republic Factory, ALDO, Ardene, The Outlet by Harry Rosen, Tommy Hilfiger, Things Engraved, and Espirit.

There will also be a 1,100-seat food court and full-service restaurants, such as Milestones Grill & Bar and Montana’s Bar & Grill.

Another 2,000 positions will eventually need to be filled over the next few months, bringing the shopping centre’s total full-time and part-time employment to 3,000 by opening. The shopping centre is scheduled to open on October 5, 2016.

“The job fair is an important step towards the Grand Opening, and will help connect our tenants with potential employees who are seeking a new opportunity to work for exciting brands,” said Mark Fenwick, General Manager of Tsawwassen Mills, in a statement.

The upcoming job fair will be held from 12 to 7 pm on Saturday, June 25 and from 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday, June 26 at the Vancouver Convention Centre’s East Building inside Canada Place in downtown Vancouver.
