Preparing for Job Interviews: A Free Career Workshop

What: WorkBC Centre and Port Moody Public Library teaches basic strategies on answering interview questions. A WorkBC Career Advisor will provide attendees the tools needed to structure answers and place skills at a higher level.

Port Moody Film Society Film Night

What: Port Moody Film Society hosts monthly film nights at Inlet Theatre. Expect a lineup of acclaimed independent films from around the world. January’s movie selection is Les Innocentes. Save the date for the 20th Annual Canadian Film Festival “Best of the Fest”, happening from March 12 to March 15.

When: The second Friday of every month: January 10, February 14, April 9, 2020.

Unplugged at Crossroads Hospice Coffeehouse

What: Crossroads Hospice Coffeehouse in Port Coquitlam have hosted their Unplugged series for over 15 years. Local musicians from across the Lower Mainland have performed to help raise funds and awareness for the hospice. Attendees are also welcome to perform in the open stage segment of the evening.

When: January 10, January 24, February 14, February 28, March 13, March 27, 2020

7th Annual Christmas Tree Festival Awards Ceremony

What: Join PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives for their 7th Annual Christmas Tree Festival wrap up party. Find out which Christmas trees won a trophy or prize this year. Light refreshments will also be served.

The Lion in Winter

What: Stage 43 presents The Lion in Winter, set in Christmas 1183 in Chinon, France, with aging King Henry II hosting a reunion to name a successor to the throne of England. A play of backstabbing, deceit, and family dysfunction.

When: January 16 until January 19, January 22 until January 25, 2020

A Celebration of Robbie Burns Supper and Concert

What: Place des Arts’ annual celebration of Scotland’s National Bard, Robbie Burns. Fiddler Rosie Carver with Celtic band Blackthorn and a special guest piper will showcase Scotland’s musical traditions with a special focus on Burns’ poems and songs.

When: January 18, 2020

Opening Reception: Sea to Sky

What: Port Moody Art Association hosts the opening reception for Sea to Sky, new works inspired by local landscapes around us. Juried selections embody interpretations of Sea to Sky, and showcase the varied painting styles of their members. Opening reception will have artists in attendance, and refreshments will be served.

When: January 23, 2020. Exhibit runs from January 23 until February 27, 2020. Closed stat holidays

Family Day at PdA

What: Place des Arts hosts Family Day, where attendees can take a self-guided tour of the exhibitions. Afterwards, try the three drop-in style art activities inspired by the artwork.

Feasts of Coquitlam: Lunar New Year Dinner

What: Coquitlam Heritage hosts Feasts of Coquitlam in celebration of Lunar New Year. Cook Jessica Yue will teach attendees how to make three traditional Chinese dishes: Chinese Lions Head (Braised Pork Meatballs), Abalone Lucky Bag with XO sauce and sesame balls for dessert. She will also share info about Lunar New Year traditions, and join participants for the feast.

Movie Night in the Museum
