Train Your Charity: The Metropolis Express Fall 2010

Dec 19 2017, 12:33 pm

Metropolis at Metrotown is utilizing its popular Metropolis Express train to drive a brand-new, unique fundraising program that will award a $10,000 Grand Prize Grant to one innovative Burnaby-based, non-profit organization.

Train Your Charity: The Metropolis Express Fall 2010 Challenge is Metrotown’s most aggressive community giveback initiative yet with a simple goal: to help Burnaby-based organizations continue their selfless acts of good in the community. Four organizations will be selected to participate in the Challenge and designated one month, during which they will receive a grant amounting to the funds donated to the Metropolis Express, a trackless train that transports mall shoppers for a minimum $1 donation. Pretty neat and unique idea.
Here’s where the Challenge comes in: Each of the four organizations must choose a day during their respected month to boost Metropolis Express use through innovative and unique marketing campaigns (I have an idea but it may be to risque for Metrotown). The participating organization that secures the most train donations during its one-day Challenge will receive a Grand Prize Grant of $10,000 in addition to all train donations that month. Applications are being accepted until August 23 and will be judged based on the creativity and ingenuity of proposed marketing plans.
In the last three years, Metropolis at Metrotown has donated more than $297,000 in funds raised by its Metropolis Express to local charities.
